My digital inkjet prints mounted to plexiglass demand to be experienced in person: looking at a photograph of my work installed is not the same as experiencing the work itself. The images themselves are not of landscapes or people, but instead are of light and shadow, mirrors and glass, dust and dirty walls. They document spaces as they are, not as an ideal, and try to capture my experiences of these places at specific moments in time. The same space can look different depending on the day and time. Sometimes this leads to confusion between what is the documentation and what is the work of art. Similarly, which is more authentic, our online existence or the physical world we experience with all five senses? Or are they one and the same? Or is neither authentic?
